Luca Mariano Kentucky Straight Bourbon Single Barrel Select
Yes, my good friend Charlie and I had the very fortunate opportunity to be the first to pick a barrel of this wonderful bourbon. The process is very much the same whenever you make a barrel selection, but it is a different feeling when you know the history and the passion of the man behind the brand, Francesco Viola. There will be many Luca Mariano barrel selections made of their company’s multiple whiskey offerings down the road. Charlie and I had the good fortune to be the first for their Single Barrel Select.
This six-year-old bourbon entered a barrel on April 14, 2015, and it was emptied and bottled on April 29, 2021. That is correct, bottled yesterday. As you can see, we were able to sample four very distinct barrels, each with its individual ABV or proof number. Despite all being the same mash bill and filled at the same entry proof of 113, each barrel has a unique character. We tasted four distinct bourbons, and you can watch a bourbon barrel pick happen HERE.
Our Luca Mariano Kentucky Straight Bourbon Single Barrel Select barrel selection is limited to about 190 bottles. You will always be able to sample it at Charlie’s Still on Main, that is until people taste it and it sells out.
