Where Heritage and Hospitality Shine in Kentucky’s City of Firsts
Pull up a chair and settle in—there’s a story brewing in the heart of Kentucky, and you’re invited to be a part of it. Luca Mariano Distillery has just opened its doors in Danville, and let me tell you, it’s already making folks smile, toast, and talk about whiskey.
Nestled among the rolling hills of Boyle County, this brand-new distillery is more than just a place to sip fine whiskey. It’s the brainchild of Francesco Viola, a dreamer with deep roots and even more profound respect for family, history, and the rich soil of Kentucky. On June 13, 2025, the whole place came alive for the grand opening, and now it’s wide open for anyone who wants to stop in and see what all the fuss is about.
Francesco Viola’s Dream Come True
Every great whiskey has a story, and so does every distillery worth its salt. For Luca Mariano, that story starts with Francesco Viola. Inspired by old family recipes passed down through generations, Francesco set his sights on creating something both new and familiar—a gathering place where neighbors and travelers could share a glass, swap stories, and celebrate good company.
He named the brand after his son, Luca, and his grandfather, Mariano, because, to Francesco, family is what it’s all about. From the warm welcome at the front door to the last drop in your glass, you can feel that spirit of togetherness and pride in every corner.

Grand Opening: June 13, 2025
Folks came from near and far to check out the distillery’s grand opening, and the excitement was a blend of wonder and relief. Relief that a project was finally completed and excitement that so many people found their way to Danville on this day. Visitors wandered the grounds, sampled bourbon from family recipes, and soaked up the friendly atmosphere. It felt less like a formal event and more like a big reunion—lots of handshakes, laughter, and clinking glasses.
Let’s not forget the property’s crown jewel—the William Crow Farm House. As the oldest stone house in Kentucky, it’s a living piece of history. Standing proud alongside shiny new distilling equipment, it’s a sweet reminder that the best things in life come from blending the old with the new.
Danville: Proud to Be First
If you haven’t been to Danville yet, you’re missing out. This little city has a considerable reputation for “firsts”—first courthouse in Kentucky, first capital of Kentucky, and even the first post office west of the Allegheny Mountains. It’s a place where folks like doing things their way, and that pioneering spirit is alive and well at Luca Mariano Distillery.
This area is also home to Wilderness Trail Distillery. Wilderness Trail is also part of this story as they were partner/distillers that helped distill early barrels of Luca Mariano Whiskey. There are now two distilleries in Danville for you to visit.
Bourbon with Heart and Heritage
At Luca Mariano, every bottle of bourbon tells a story. Instead of chasing trends, they stick to what works—good recipes, time, patience, and a whole lot of heart. Thanks to old-school methods handed down through the Viola family, you can taste the tradition in every sip.
The Historic William Crow Farm House
Walking up to the William Crow Farm House is like stepping straight into Kentucky’s past. Built back in the late 1700s, it’s seen more history than most folks can imagine. These days, it serves as a cozy spot for tastings, private events, and friendly get-togethers. The old stone walls seem to hold the laughter and stories of generations, making every visit feel special.

More Than a Distillery—A True Kentucky Welcome
Luca Mariano isn’t just about whiskey—it’s about making folks feel at home. The team offers tours where you can get up close with the whiskey-making process, hear tales about the family’s journey, and maybe even pick up a few local legends along the way. Be sure to check with the distillery to see their tour schedule—the Luca Mariano Distillery: a new bourbon tradition in Danville, Kentucky.
Raising a Glass to the Future
With the doors wide open and the future looking bright, Luca Mariano Distillery aims to be a hub for the community and a must-stop for anyone traveling through bourbon country. Francesco Viola’s dream is about more than making top-notch whiskey—it’s about bringing people together, honoring the past, and looking forward with hope.
So if you find yourself in Danville, swing by Luca Mariano Distillery. You’ll walk away with a story or two, a taste of true Kentucky heritage, and—if you’re lucky—a bottle of bourbon to remember it by. Here’s to good company, good whiskey, and the good times yet to come!

Looks like we need to plan a visit!
