Lux Row Distillers Bardstown, Kentucky

As I speak to groups about bourbon, almost all of the people present have never heard of Lux Row Distillers.  It is not until we begin to discuss the names of the various brands produced by Lux Row that people associate the distillery with the bourbons.

You see that Lux Row has been sourcing whiskey from other producers to bottle unique brands such as Blood Oath, David Nicholson, Ezra Brooks, and a personal favorite Rebel Yell.  You see after 40 years in the bourbon business Lux Row decided to build their distillery to keep up with the growing demand.  So they built a brand new state of the art distillery in the Bardstown Kentucky area.

Lux Row Distillers is both new and modern, but you get the impression that it belongs in this area that screams Kentucky bourbon.  Our guide Vincent was knowledgeable and moved through the tour with a strong appreciation of their family of bourbons as well as the history of Luxco itself.  Luxco is a top independent producer of spirits and is the owner of Lux Row Distillers.

There were three very memorable moments to our touring experience.  Number one is the introductory film that begins every tour.  It was professional and very well made.  Number two was the six-story barrel warehouse constructed in a way for you to see barrel storage like nowhere else.  We have included an image with this post for you to fully understand the foresight that went into the design.

The third highlight was a unique twist on the end of tour tasting.  Lux Row Distillers uniquely pairs each bourbon with a different version of chocolate.  Sampling the different brands with the paired chocolate was an education.

I was not sure what to expect when visiting Lux Row but the experience was one that was memorable and left me with the satisfaction that I was glad I stopped in.  The very friendly staff along with a modern facility, that also includes a very capable tour guide, all made for a memorable visit.  I still regret not buying a bottle of the Rebel Yell 10 yeard old single barrel while I was there.  It is now impossible to find, and I will not make the same mistake again.

Be sure to include Lux Row Distillers on your next visit to Bourbon Country!
